Arsenal Urged to Pursue West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus as Saka Replacement

Arsenal has been advised to consider West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus as a short-term replacement for Bukayo Saka, who could be sidelined until March following surgery for a hamstring injury sustained during the Premier League victory over Crystal Palace on December 21.

Saka, 23, has been a pivotal figure in Arsenal's title challenges in recent years, with five goals and ten assists in just 16 league games this season before his injury. However, manager Mikel Arteta hinted that the club might not seek a direct replacement in the January transfer window, opting instead to rely on internal options.

Former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke, however, has suggested that Kudus could fill the void left by Saka. Speaking on talkSPORT, Clarke said, “Mohammed Kudus is a perfect Bukayo Saka replacement who can also do a job up front. Arsenal has shown long-term interest in him, and he is a wonderful traveler with the ball at his feet.”

Since joining West Ham from Ajax for £38 million in 2023, Kudus has been instrumental for the Hammers, netting 17 goals over two seasons. However, with West Ham struggling under new manager Julen Lopetegui, Kudus may be open to a move. West Ham has endured a challenging season, securing only 23 points from 19 games and suffering heavy defeats, including a 5-0 loss to Liverpool.

Arsenal has impressed this season with only two defeats in 18 matches but trails league leaders Liverpool by nine points. As the team prepares to face Brentford on New Year’s Day, Clarke expressed optimism about Arsenal's position in the title race, emphasizing that being the chasers rather than the leaders might reduce pressure.

With Arsenal’s defense performing well but offensive challenges persisting against defensively compact teams, the potential addition of Kudus could address the gap left by Saka and boost Arsenal's attack in the second half of the season.
