Police Arrest Three with Counterfeit Notes Worth ₦129 Billion in Kano


Kano State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in possession of counterfeit currencies valued at a staggering ₦129.54 billion.


Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed the recovery of fake currencies, including $3,366,000, CFA51,970,000, and ₦1,443,000.


"The counterfeit currencies recovered amount to a total of ₦129,542,826,000," Kiyawa revealed.


According to the spokesperson, the suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations to uncover the origin of the counterfeit notes and the individuals behind their production.


The arrest underscores the police's commitment to combating financial crimes and protecting the nation’s economy. Further updates on the case are expected as investigations progress.
