JAMB to Begin 2025 UTME Registrations in January

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will commence in January, although the exact date is yet to be disclosed.

In a statement, JAMB assured the public that all preparations for a seamless registration process and a smooth examination experience have been finalized. These include the development of a robust question bank, the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers, and the introduction of measures to improve the process for candidates and stakeholders.

Insights from the 2024 UTME have informed the planning for the upcoming examination, with steps taken to address challenges encountered in the previous cycle. To further enhance the process, JAMB has emphasized the importance of early preparation. Candidates are advised to create their profiles by texting “NIN” followed by their eleven-digit National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019.

Additionally, the Board highlighted the need for candidates to avoid using henna designs on their fingers during registration and examinations. Henna, also known as "Laali" or "Lale," can interfere with biometric verification. JAMB warns that using harsh chemicals to remove henna may damage fingerprints, further complicating verification.

Biometric verification is mandatory for entry into the examination hall, and candidates without successful verification will not be allowed to write the examination. JAMB urged candidates to protect their fingers throughout the registration and examination processes.

The Board remains committed to delivering an improved UTME experience in 2025, ensuring fairness and efficiency for all candidates.
