President Tinubu Hails Remo Stars on Historic NPFL Title Win

In a proud moment for Nigerian football, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club for clinching the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title — a first in the club’s history.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the team for their "hard work, discipline, and unyielding spirit," noting that their journey to victory was marked by persistence through several near-misses.

"Remo Stars’ courage in pushing forward despite three previous heartbreaks in the race for the title is truly admirable. I hope their story inspires other clubs across the country to keep striving toward greatness," Tinubu said.

Special commendation was also reserved for Kunle Soname, the club’s owner and chairman, whose investments — particularly the construction of a modern stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State — have fueled the club’s rise and helped develop grassroots football in Nigeria.

The President’s remarks followed Remo Stars' dramatic triumph over Niger Tornadoes, a victory that sealed their place not only as NPFL champions but also as Nigeria's flagbearers in the upcoming CAF Champions League.

Tinubu encouraged the team to keep their “undaunting spirit and focus” as they prepare for continental competition, and urged football fans nationwide to rally behind them.

This landmark achievement places Ikenne and Ogun State firmly on Nigeria’s football map and sets the stage for an exciting new chapter in Remo Stars’ journey.
